Call FORREST SHERMAN’s quarterdeck at (757) 444-4541 (24 hours a day when in-port). The officer of the deck (OOD) will provide you with information regarding pier and berth location and other information if you are new to the area.

If you call the ship and are unable to get through (busy or no answer) the ship is more than likely at sea. If that is the case, please call the Transient Personnel Unit (TPU) quarterdeck for directions and guidance about proper check-in procedures. You can reach TPU 24 hours a day by calling (757) 444-1640 or DSN 564-1640. You can get directions to TPU at any gate upon arrival.

If you are arriving at Norfolk International Airport, you should visit the USO. They are located on the second floor of the arrivals terminal and are open everyday from 0800-2300. The USO may have transportation available; if not, call TPU and a vehicle will be sent to pick you up.

You will need to report aboard in the service dress uniform of the day for the season and have your service, medical and dental records. Leave and liberty are at the discretion of your department head and LCPO, so be sure to check in with them to get settled.
