Master Chief Timmerman is a native of Michigan.  He enlisted in the United States Navy under the Delayed Entry Program in January 1997 and completed Basic Training and Airman ATD School in Great Lakes, Illinois. 
 

In October 1997, he reported to his first ship, USS Harry S. Truman (CVN-75), as a plank owner and Air Craft Director.  After his first ship, he cross-rated to Hull Maintenance Technician and returned to Great Lakes, Illinois where he completed HT “A” School.
 
In March 2003, Master Chief Timmerman reported to USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) where he served as the Leading Petty Officer of Repair Division and deployed in support of OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM.  Following his tour onboard LHD 3, he reported to the Non-nuclear High Pressure Welding Course in Portsmouth, Virginia.  Other tours as a Leading Petty Officer were the USS Vella Gulf (CG 72) and USS McFaul (DDG 74) from December 2005 to January 2010.  
 
Master Chief then reported to his first shore duty, Assault Craft Unit Four, where he was selected to Chief Petty Officer.  He served as the Repair LCPO and Assistant Quality Assurance Officer from March 2010 to July 2013. Following shore duty, Master Chief Timmerman reported to PCU GERALD R.  FORD (CVN-78) in September 2013 where he served as the Repair Division LCPO, Family Advocacy POC, and was selected for Senior Chief Petty Officer.   In February 2016, he was selected for Command Senior Chief and reported to TPU Puget Sound in June 2016 where he was promoted to Master Chief and continued to serve until October of 2018.  Master Chief Timmerman reported as the CMC of USS BULKELEY (DDG 84) on November 12, 2018.  
 
Master Chief Timmerman is a graduate of the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 175, Gold) where he also received the Navy League Honor Graduate Award.  His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (five awards), Good Conduct Medal (six awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
