As your USS Little Rock (LCS 9) ombudsmen, we’d like to introduce ourselves and talk about
our role and how it pertains to you!
My name is Dara Mayfield and I am honored to work with the USS Little Rock Gold and its
families as ombudsman. I have been married to my sailor since 2005 and we have four children.
Throughout my husband’s career in the Navy, we have experienced several deployments and
duty stations that have taken us to Italy, then Virginia and now here to Jacksonville, Florida.
My counterparts, Michaela Perez and Precious Smart, serve as ombudsmen for USS Little Rock
Blue. I, Michaela Perez, am married to FC1 Adam Perez and have supported him for years. We
too have seen many deployments and duty stations, each with their own highlights and
challenges. I, Precious Smart, have been married to GSM1 Smart for several years. We are
excited to be attached to the USS LITTLE ROCK, and look forward to working as your
ombudsman.
As the liaison between command families and command leadership, ombudsmen strive to
promote family morale and readiness by facilitating clear lines of communication. We are here to
support you by seeking out information and providing referrals for situations that are unique to
military life. We understand the challenges military families face and we are here for you. If you
