CDR Larry Ford is the Deputy Commander, Littoral Combat Ship Squadron TWO. He is a native of Hampton, VA. He enlisted in the Navy as an Electronics Technician in 1991, serving overseas at Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station Puerto Rico, aboard USS STOUT (DDG 55), deploying to the Arabian Gulf during Operation Desert Fox, and as an instructor at Fleet Combat Training Center, Dam Neck, VA. He was commissioned through the Seaman-to-Admiral program in 2003. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Finance from Old Dominion University, and a Master’s Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College.
 
At sea, CDR Ford was Commanding Officer of USS INDIANAPOLIS (LCS 17) out of Mayport Florida from 2021 to 2023. He also commanded USS FIREBOLT (PC 10) from 2015 to 2016, while forward deployed in the Arabian Gulf. His first Department Head tour was on USS UNDERWOOD (FFG 36) as Combat Systems Officer, deploying to Fourth Fleet in support of Operations UNITAS PAC and UNITAS LANT. His second Department Head tour was as the Combat Systems Officer at Commander, Destroyer Squadron TWO, where he conducted work ups aboard USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT (CVN 71). He served his Division Officer tours onboard USS TAYLOR (FFG 50) as Gunnery Officer, and Communications Officer.
 
Ashore, CDR Ford has served as Enlisted Manning Director for Commander, Naval Surface Force Atlantic in Norfolk VA, as Disaster Preparedness Officer at Navy Region, Hawaii, and as a Training Liaison Officer at

Afloat Training Group, Mayport. In 2007, he deployed to Bagram, Afghanistan, serving in the Joint Operations Center in support of CJTF-82, as part of Operation Enduring Freedom.
His personal awards include Meritorious Service Medals (3), Joint Service Commendation Medal, Navy Commendation Medals (4), Navy Achievement Medals (6), the Humanitarian Service Medal, and several other various personal, unit, and campaign awards.
