CDR Scott Jones
 

CDR Scott Jones hails from Michigan. He attended the University of South Carolina earning a bachelor’s degree and was commissioned through the NROTC program in 2004. His first assignment was to USS O’KANE (DDG 77), where he served as Gunnery Officer, Auxiliaries Officer, and Fire Control Officer. While on O’KANE, he completed two deployments to FIFTH Fleet in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM and counter piracy operations, RIMPAC 2004 and 2008, and completed a Surge Deployment to SEVENTH Fleet.

 

Ashore, CDR Jones was an instructor for Marquette University’s NROTC program from July 2008 through April 2011, where he earned his Master’s Degree in Business Administration specializing in Finance.

 

In March 2012, CDR Jones reported to USS GETTYSBURG (CG 64) as the Weapons Officer and fleeted up to Combat Systems Officer in July 2013. While serving on GETTYSBURG, he completed a nine-month FIFTH FLEET deployment in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM and several multinational exercises.

 

In May 2014 CDR Jones attended the Surface Commander’s Course and reported to USS PIONEER (MCM 9) forward deployed to Sasebo, Japan, in October 2014. In PIONEER, Jones served as the Executive Officer and fleeted up to assume command on 19 February, 2016.  Following command in PIONEER, Jones reported to the Surface Warfare Officer School in July of 2017, serving as an instructor and the course coordinator for the Prospective Commanding Officer Course. CDR Jones reported to USS ROSS (DDG 71), forward deployed to Rota, Spain, in October, 2019.

 

His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (2), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (5), and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2), in addition to several unit awards.
