Shipmate,

In some way or another, you have made a personal sacrifice to join our team. Your new team may not always have a full under-standing of that sacrifice, but your commitment will enable us to achieve Combat Readiness aboard BARNUM each and every day.

I am counting on you to be prepared mentally and physically to take on this challenge of bringing our ship to the Fleet; achieving your personal and professional needs both on and off duty in or-der to be an outstanding citizen at home and to be ready to sup-port combat operations at sea. We will support you to grow both professionally and personally every day, so that you can support our combat team.

Your actions each day will support our combat readiness, and we will achieve our goals by upholding the highest levels of respect for one another.

Honor each other’s sacrifice, stand up for each other, provide forceful backup to your juniors and seniors, and treat your Ship-mates with the highest respect that you deserve as a United States Navy Sailor… a BARNUM Sailor!
