Commander Mark P. Gallagher
CDR Gallagher hails from Massachusetts. He was commissioned in 2003 through the Limited Duty Officer Program. In 2008 he received a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from the University of Phoenix, and in 2009 he was selected for lateral transfer to the Unrestricted Line - Surface Warfare. He has a Master’s degree in National Defense and Strategic Studies from the United States Naval War College.
At sea, Gallagher served on USS New Jersey (BB 62), USS Missouri (BB 63), USS Bunker Hill (CG 52), USS Benfold (DDG 65), USS McCampbell (DDG 85), USS Halsey (DDG 97), and Destroyer Squadron (DESRON) 21 embarked on USS John C. Stennis.
His assignments ashore include N6 Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station San Diego, Officer in Charge Fleet Area Control and Surveillance Facility San Clemente Island, Surface Air and Missile Defense Lead at Tactical Training Group Pacific and Integrated Air and Missile Defense Branch Lead at Naval Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Center.
Gallagher has served on teams that have been awarded the Combat Action Ribbon, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Navy Unit Commendation and Navy Battle “E” award. His personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (eight awards) the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (five awards) and various other service, unit and personal awards.
Gallagher began serving as Executive Officer on June 25, 2018.
