Mission of Naval Surface Squadron FIVE:
Naval Surface Squadron FIVE is the ISIC for 10 Bahrain based Patrol Coastal (PC) and 4 Mine Countermeasure (MCM) ships. Comprised of 115 Navy and civilian personnel, the NSS-5 staff is responsible for the maintenance, logistics, manning and training of all PCs and MCMs in order to meet C5F operational requirements. NSS-5 is also the Surface Warfare Enterprise class advocate for all 13 PC ships, managing life cycle improvement programs to increase efficiency and capability of the PC class.
 
Mission of Patrol Coastal Ships (PC):
 The PC 1 (CYCLONE) Patrol Coastal Class Ship's mission is to conduct coastal patrol, maritime security operations, high-value unit protection, maritime infrastructure protection, maritime interception operations, and special operations support in support of C5F objectives. The PC 1 Class are ideal platforms for littoral operations, bridging the gap between inshore and open ocean operational environments, and are well suited to operate with other GCC Navy and Coast Guard assets in support of Theater Security Cooperation objectives.
