Our Mission
Our mission is to provide a fully trained, combat ready force of surface combatants: USS Mitscher (DDG-57), USS Laboon (DDG-58), USS Ross (DDG 71), USS Porter (DDG 78), and Gravely (DDG 107). At sea, Commander, Destroyer Squadron 22 operates as the Sea Combatant Commander (SCC) for Commander, Carrier Strike Group 2. We are responsible for directing surface combatants in surface warfare and anti-submarine warfare. COMDESRON 22 also fulfills functional duties as the screen commander, mine warfare commander, maritime interdiction operations coordinator, and helicopter element coordinator.
