 A native of Ferdinand, Indiana, Master Chief Meyer enlisted in the Navy in September 1997. He attended Recruit Training Command (RTC) Great Lakes, IL, Aviation Electrician’s Mate (AE) "A" School, and Advanced Avionics and Weapon Integrated Systems Maintenance  (AAIWSM) "C" School in Pensacola, FL.

His sea duty assignments include Van Operational Detachment (VANOPDET) Whidbey Island, USS STENNIS (CVN 74), USS BATAAN (LHD 5), and Strike Fighter Squadron Eight Seven (VFA-87). His shore duty assignments include Fleet Readiness Center West (FRCW) Lemoore, CA and Fleet Readiness Center Mid-Atlantic  (FRCMA) detachment Patuxent River, MD.

Master Chief Meyer was selected for the Command Senior Chief program in February 2016 and is a graduate of the Navy's Senior Enlisted Academy (Green Group, Class 196), the Navy’s Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat Course (Class 162), and Advanced Command Master Chief Course.

Master Chief Meyer has previously served as Command Senior Chief for LCS Crew 101 in USS FORT WORTH (LCS 3) and Command Master Chief and plank owner in USS WICHITA (LCS 13). As Command Master Chief in USS MOMSEN (DDG 92), he led MOMSEN and her crew through an independent Seventh Fleet deployment, seven-month maintenance period and successful completion of Basic and Integrated Phases of the training cycle.  As Command Master Chief for Airborne Command and Control Squadron One One Seven (VAW-117), he led the squadron through successful completions of Composite Training Unit Exercise, a Seventh Fleet deployment, and the transition to aerial refueling capable E-2D Advanced Hawkeye aircraft.  During his tour, the command received the Battle E; CNO’s Aviation Safety Award; Meritorious Unit Commendation; Commander, Carrier Air Wing Nine’s Golden Wrench; and Commander, Carrier Air Wing Nine’s Senior Enlisted Leadership award, an award given to the best Chief’s Mess in the air wing.  Master Chief Meyer reported as the Command Master Chief for Commander, Destroyer Squadron Twenty Two in May 2024.

He earned his Associate of Applied Sciences degree in Electronics from Ivy Tech Community College.  He is qualified as an Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist and Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist.  His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3 awards), Navy & Marine Corps Achievement Medal (4 Awards), Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, and various unit and campaign awards.
