Commander Joseph "Joe" Mitzen 
Executive Officer 

Commander Joseph Mitzen (Joe) is a native of Pennsylvania and a 2001 graduate of the United States Naval Academy (B.S. Systems Engineering).  

CDR Mitzen’s sea tours include: First Lieutenant in USS JARRETT (FFG 33), Reactor Mechanical Division Officer in USS NIMITZ (CVN 68), Operations Officer in USS KAUFFMAN (FFG 59), and Main Propulsion Assistant in USS HARRY S. TRUMAN (CVN 75).  
 
Ashore, CDR Mitzen served in a nuclear training billet at Commander, Naval Air Forces (Pacific); as the Surface Strike Requirements Officer at OPNAV N96; and as the Navy Programs Analyst in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics.
 
CDR Mitzen’s post-graduate education includes a Master of Engineering Management degree from Old Dominion University as well as Joint Professional Military Education (Phase I).
