Commander Colin Kane
Commanding Officer
Commander Kane is a native of Ohio. He is a graduate of The United States Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering, and commissioned as an Ensign upon graduation.
Afloat, Commander Kane completed his division officer tours aboard USS ELLIOT (DD 967) and USS FLETCHER (DD 997) as the Communications Officer and then aboard USS HALSEY (DDG 97) as the Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer. As a department head, he served as Operations officer in USS BENFOLD (DDG 65) and USS INDEPENDENCE (LCS 2). He then served as Assistant Surface Operations officer on the staff of Carrier Strike Group One in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. He served as Executive Officer in USS STOCKDALE (DDG 106) while the ship completed Rim of the Pacific Exercise and a ten month DDG modernization.
Ashore, Commander Kane first served on the staff of Fleet Anti-Submarine Warfare Training Center. During this tour, he also served as an Individual Augmentee on the staff of Multi-National Force – Iraq in support of Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. He served as a staff member at the Surface Warfare Officer School Command where he both instructed and served as Deputy for Seamanship and Maritime Warfare Programs in the Simulation and Trainers directorate. He most recently served as Reachback support lead at the Surface and Mine Warfighting Development Command – Integrated Air and Missile Defense Division.
He is a graduate of the University of San Diego with a Master of Science degree in Global Leadership.
His personal awards include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with three gold stars, Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with three gold stars as well as multiple unit and service awards.
