USS Ted Stevens (DDG 128) Menu
Welcome Aboard
Welcome aboard the Navy’s most advanced warship! The future USS TED STEVENS (DDG 128) is currently under construction in Pascagoula, MS.  If you have received orders to TED STEVENS, you will be part of the commissioning crew that will be the first group of Sailors to crew this phenomenal warship. TED STEVENS is a Flight III Arleigh Burke Class destroyer, a multi-mission warship able to conduct integrated air and missile defense, surface warfare, ballistic missile defense, anti-submarine warfare and electronic warfare.  We are happy to have you on our team!

Sponsor Program
The best way to ensure a smooth move is through preparation and planning well in advance of the move. Contacting your sponsor is one of the biggest tools at your disposal. It allows your new chain of command to understand your needs and provide assistance when possible.

If you haven't been contacted by your sponsor yet, please send an e-mail to the sponsor distribution at sponsor@ddg128.navy.mil and one will be assigned to you.
  • DO NOT include your SSN in any correspondence
  • Today's Date
  • Name
  • Rate and Rank
  • Current duty station and the TED STEVENS UIC listed in your orders
  • PRD (Projected Rotation Date)
  • EAOS (End of Active Obligated Service)
  • All current NECs (Navy Enlisted Classifications)
  • Warfare designators (SW/AW/FMF/SS/etc)
  • Email addresses (current military and personal)
  • Phone numbers (current duty station and home/mobile)
  • Dependent status. If you have dependents, this will aid in assigning an appropriate sponsor.
If you don't already have a sponsor, the Senior Enlisted Advisor will ensure you are assigned one. Once you have a sponsor, make contact often to advise them of what your travel plans are, any changes that arise, and about any difficulties you may be having. Your sponsor can assist you with any special arrangements, if needed. Communicating with your sponsor is the key.

Of note, although TED STEVENS is under construction in Mississippi, the crew’s work space, known as the precom detachment or PCD, is located at Naval Station Norfolk Bldg V-88 (2nd deck).  The address of building V-88 is:
1224 Pocahontas Ave STE 100
Norfolk, VA 23511-2414

Arriving in Norfolk
DRIVING: No matter which direction you come from, you will approach Norfolk on Interstate 64. Follow the posted signs to Norfolk Naval Base on Interstate 564. Interstate 564 becomes Admiral Taussig Blvd. as you near the base. When you come to the third stop light, turn right onto Hampton Blvd. At the first light, turn right into Gate 2, Naval Station Norfolk Main Gate.  An alternate route during weekdays is to exit I-564 at the exit for Naval Station Norfolk Gate 3A and proceed straight into the gate.

FLYING: Norfolk has numerous methods of transportation from the airport. Keep your sponsor apprised of your flight information so someone can pick you up at the airport.  An alternate method is a Navy shuttle van provided by contacting the Military Information Booth located on the second level in the Norfolk International Airport Arrivals Terminal. You will find a Navy representative on duty to assist you from 07:30 to 24:00, seven days a week. Uniformed military personnel have information about all bases in the Hampton Roads area, transportation, duty office telephone numbers and emergency assistance numbers.

Checking In
The Precom Detachment is open Monday-Friday 0700-1600.  If you arrive during those hours, come directly to Building V-88.  If you report after those hours, call your sponsor to receive further information on report date and time.  You should report in the uniform of the day with your PCS orders and all of you military records. To make your transition to TED STEVENS as smooth as possible, and to save you time and frustration, keep your assigned sponsor informed of you travel arrangements.
