USS Mahan (DDG 72) was constructed by Bath Iron Works and was commissioned in the United States Navy in Tampa, Florida on 14 February 1998. USS Mahan is the twenty-second ARLEIGH BURKE Class Destroyer and the first Flight II variant. Named after Rear Admiral Alfred Thayer Mahan, the famous theorist on sea power, she is the fourth Navy ship to bear the name.
We are Team Mahan and you and your shipmates are our most important resource. I am firmly committed to the development of every Sailor both personally and professionally.
