A 2008 graduate of The George Washington University, Commander Woodside earned a Bachelor of Art degree in Political Science. He earned a Master of Business Administration with a Financial Management Specialty from the Naval Post Graduate School. He is originally from Edmond, Oklahoma.
A career Surface Warfare Officer, Commander Woodside’s at sea assignments include: USS DOYLE (FFG-39) as the Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer, and a follow on tour as the Training and Auxiliaries Officer. USS STOUT (DDG 55) as the Operations Officer, Combat Systems Officer for Destroyer Squadron Two Two (CDS-22) and the Tactical Tomahawk Officer for Carrier Strike Group Two (CSG-2).
Ashore, he served as Tactical Watch Officer at Naval Ocean Process Facility Whidbey Island (NOPFWI). He served as the Resource Officer for the Ship Self Defense Systems and Enterprise Test and Evaluation portfolios at OPNAV N96. Most recently, he served as the Defense Fellow for Congressman Joe Courtney (CT-2).
He has earned several personal decorations and various unit, campaign, and service awards.
