Welcome Aboard
Welcome aboard! We look forward to your arrival. In order to make sure your transition to Team FARRAGUT is successful, the below information is provided.
Getting a Sponsor
When FARRAGUT receives your orders, we will assign you a sponsor from your division who will help you in the transition process. Sponsor assignment is conducted within a few days of orders receipt. If you have not heard from your sponsor within 10 days of receiving your orders, or before leaving your current command, you should contact the Command Master Chief by emailing cmc@ddg99.navy.mil.
Contacting Your Sponsor
Sponsor contact information is provided in your sponsor assignment message, which is sent to the command from which you are detaching. Alternatively, you may call the ship’s Quarterdeck at 904-270-6213, where the watch can transfer your call. If FARRAGUT is underway, this phone number will be inactive; in this case you should email the Command Master Chief at cmc@ddg99.navy.mil.
Before You Depart
Before departing your current command, verify the following with your personnel office:
- Page 5
- Page 4 (All schools and awards are documented to date)
- Page 2 (Update and sign)
- SGLI (Review)
- Dependent Care Certificate (If necessary)
- OBLISERV (If required)
Also ensure you obtain an up to date PHA from your medical department.
Arriving in Mayport
FARRAGUT is homeported at Naval Station Mayport, Florida. If you are flying to the ship via Jacksonville International Airport, you should let your sponsor know your carrier, flight number, and arrival time so that we can arrange to pick you up. If you are driving to the ship via POV, you must have valid DoD decals to access the installation. You may obtain these at the Pass & ID officer outside the main gate (Mayport Road) by showing your military ID, driver’s license, and insurance card. Remember to save all of your travel and lodging receipts as these will be processed as part of your travel claim.
What to Bring
When you arrive onboard, you should have your orders and medical and dental records in hand. Ensure that you have a complete seabag when you arrive. You should report in the seasonal dress uniform, or service dress blues. In berthing you will have an under-rack stowage space as well as a personal stand-up locker for hanging items. Generally a full seabag, ditty bag, and a few personal items will fit in your lockers.
If the Ship is Underway
If FARRAGUT is underway when you report, you need to check in to TPD Mayport (Building 1587). If you arrive on the weekend, you must check in at the Naval Station Quarterdeck (Building 1). Ensure your orders are stamped upon your arrival. You will be given instructions for temporary duty until the ship returns.
NS Mayport Quarterdeck can be reached at 904-270-5401
