“USS FORT LAUDERDALE’S mission is to be available on order, to deploy around the world to deliver a force of Marines and enablers at points of conflict and crisis, providing the nation's leaders with flexible response options; and in times of peace, to build and strengthen partnerships while embodying excellence and the fighting spirit of the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps team.


General Characteristics of Ship

USS Fort Lauderdale is the twelfth in the San Antonio Class of amphibious transport dock ships. USS Fort Lauderdale is designed to transport and land Marines, their equipment, and supplies by embarked Landing Craft Air Cushions (LCAC) or conventional Landing Craft Utilities (LCU), augmented by helicopters or vertical take-off and landing aircraft.
