Mission (Primary):  To embark, deploy, and land elements of a Marine landing force in an amphibious assault by helicopters, landing craft, and amphibious vehicles.

Mission (Secondary):  Sea Control and Power Projection, and landing (V/STOL) aircraft and helicopters deployed.
