Force Master Chief Jarmine Westmoreland, a native of Philadelphia, PA, he enlisted on January 31, 2002. He completed basic training at Recruit Training Command and Engineman “A” school at Navy Training Command in Chicago, IL.
His operational assignments include pivotal roles on the USS Oak Hill (LSD 51) where he served as Engineering Department Leading Chief Petty Officer (LCPO), Machinery Division LCPO, and Auxiliary Division LCPO. Earlier in his career, he was assigned to the USS Carter Hall (LSD 50), where he qualified as Engineering Officer of the Watch.
Ashore, Force Master Chief Westmoreland has also excelled in training and correctional roles. He served as the Engineering Departmental LCPO at Afloat Training Group Norfolk, earning qualifications as an Afloat Training Specialist and Master Training Specialist. He was also assigned to the Naval Consolidated Brig in Charleston, where he was promoted to Chief Petty Officer and qualified as a Master Correctional Specialist.
He is qualified to wear the Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist (ESWS) and Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist (EAWS) insignia. His personal decorations include the Legion of Merit, the Meritorious Service Medal (four awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (five awards), the Good Conduct Service Medal (eight awards), and various unit and campaign awards.
He is a graduate of the U.S. Navy Senior Enlisted Academy, the Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat (CMC/COB) Course, and the National Defense University’s Keystone Joint Command Senior Enlisted course. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Public Service – Military Leadership from Excelsior University.
As a Command Master Chief, he served at Expeditionary Strike Group Two, USS Bataan (LHD 5), Assault Craft Unit Four, and USS Tortuga (LSD 46).
