Welcome
Littoral Combat Ship Squadron (LCSRON) 2.

Command Crest

Shield:  An azure shield encompassed by a gold lining represents the traditional colors of the Navy. Within the dark blue field is a lozenge enhanced Gules, fimbrated Or, thereon a diamond properly enveloped by four mullets – one above and three below in chevron reversed Argent – all within a diminished bordure of the third.  The red lozenge and four stars are paradigmatic of the Arkansas flag. Little Rock is the capital of Arkansas, and considered the gem of the state. This symbol also alludes to the LCS 9 crew and their attainment of excellence. Arkansas is the only diamond, the hardest known natural material, bearing state as of 1897. The heraldic diamond is illustrative of endurance and perseverance as well as the many facets and challenges of the ship’s mission.

Crest:  Issuant from a wreath of the colors Or and Azure, an American bald eagle displayed head to sinister Proper, gorged with a crown of three diamonds voided and conjoined all in front of a ship’s wheel of the first. The eagle is emblematic of the United States of America and The Great Seal of Arkansas, facing to the right for wisdom wearing a mescal coronet to symbolize honor. The ships wheel is reminiscent of the previous USS LITTLE ROCK (CL-92) badge, as the current hull carries on the tradition of taking “Pride in Achievement”

Motto:  A tripartite scroll Azure doubled and inscribed "BACK WITH A VENGEANCE"

Supporters:  Behind the shield, a conquistador’s sword point to base Proper and a trident spiked in saltire Or. The conquistador sword is symbolic of the Age of Discovery during which the first European expedition to reach Arkansas was led by Spanish explorer Hernando de Soto in 1541. The trident is an attribute of Neptune and signifies the three mission areas of mine, surface, and anti-submarine warfare.

Seal:  The coat of arms as blazoned in full color upon a white oval enclosed by a blue collar edged on the outside with a gold rope bearing the inscription "USS LITTLE ROCK" at top and in base "LCS 9" in gold letters. The rope has 184 twists, one for each of the lives lost at the Pentagon on September 11, 2001.
