Shield
The shield pays tribute to the Beloit, Wisconsin city flag.  Yellow portrays the fields of ripened grains while green refers to the prairies and pasture lands.  The blue bar alludes to Rock County’s Rock River, as well as the sea from which the USS BELOIT (LCS 29) will carry out its naval mission.  The stylized water wheel is a representation of “turbine, spoke, flange, and vane” that were important to early Beloit industries.  Its symbol of power was the main feature that attracted early settlers.  The crossed pistons suggest the city of Beloit’s workforce and contribution of engines from Fairbanks Morse Defense that are onboard 80% of U.S. naval ships.

Crest
The wreath adopts the first named metal and color from the shield and blazon, gold and green.  The badger is fierce and intelligent, symbolizing the aggressiveness and intellectual capabilities of the USS BELOIT (LCS 29).

Supporters
The crossed sword and cutlass symbolize the officers and enlisted crew who sail the ship, demonstrating teamwork and cooperation by the naval team of the USS BELOIT (LCS 29).

Motto
The ship’s motto, “FORWARD FOR FREEDOM,” alludes to the state’s motto, “Forward.”  It became the official state motto in 1851, reflecting Wisconsin’s continuous drive to be a national leader.

Seal
The coat of arms as blazoned in full color on a white oval within a Navy blue designation band, edged with a gold roped border and bearing the name “USS BELOIT” at the top and “LCS 29” at the base in gold.  LCS 29 is the first ship to bear the name Beloit.
