Welcome Aboard the USS ROOSEVELT (DDG 80) website! Whether you are a current sailor, a future sailor with orders to ROOSEVELT, a Friend or Family member, or just a guest, please use this website to learn more about our great ship and what we do.

ROOSEVELT is the 30th ship in the Arleigh Burke Class of Aegis Guided Missile Destroyers. Named in honor of President Franklin D. Roosevelt and his wife Eleanor, she represents the best of American shipbuilding and the most advanced combat systems capability that has ever gone to sea. The heart of the ship is the Aegis Weapons System, a seamlessly integrated radar and missile system capable of simultaneous operations defending against advanced air, surface, and subsurface threats. ROOSEVELT is capable of operating independently or as part of a Naval, Joint or Coalition Force.

"Destroyermen have always been proud people. They have been the elite. They have to be proud people and they have to be specially selected, for destroyer life is a rugged one. It takes stamina to stand up to the rigors of a tossing destroyer. It takes even more spiritual stamina to keep going with enthusiasm when you are tired, and you feel that you and your ship are being used as a workhorse. It is true that many people take destroyers for granted and that is all the more reason why the destroyer Captains can be proud of their accomplishment."

- Admiral Arleigh Burke

ROOSEVELT’s crew hails from every corner of our nation and beyond. All volunteers, the fine men and women of TEAM ROOSEVELT have made a commitment to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic. Through their hard work and dedication, extensive training and indomitable spirit, they have risen to meet every challenge and established a reputation of operational excellence. Ship and crew stand ready when called upon to support the Navy’s mission of conducting “prompt and sustained combat operations at sea.”

Seven Guiding Principles provide the framework for all we do in ROOSEVELT, both on and off the ship. They are:

  • INTEGRITY
  • CIVILITY
  • SAFETY
  • EXEMPLARY STANDARDS
  • INNOVATION
  • TEAMWORK
  • HEALTH AND FITNESS

We are proud of our ship and fully embrace our role in defending our Nation and its way of life.
