History

USS McFaul (DDG 74) is an Arleigh-Burke class destroyer. Named after Engineman Chief Petty Officer (SEAL) Donald L. McFaul, it is the 24th destroyer of her class. USS McFaul was built at Ingalls Shipbuilding in Pascagoula, Mississippi and was the 11th ship of this class to be built there. The ship was launched on January 18, 1997 and christened on April 12, 1997 by Mrs. Marsha Coats, wife of Senator Daniel Coats (R-IN), who served as sponsor for the ship. The ship was commissioned on April 25, 1998 in a commissioning ceremony in Savannah, Georgia. USS McFaul is the first ship to be named after Chief Petty Officer McFaul. The ship is currently stationed out of Naval Station Norfolk.
