Commander Christopher Cummins

Nature

Cmdr. Christopher Cummins is a native of San Jose, Calif., and a 2001 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Economics and was commissioned an Ensign in the United States Navy.

Cummins’ sea duty assignments include Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer aboard USS Klakring (FFG 42), Training Officer aboard USS Carney (DDG 64), Weapons Officer and Combat Systems Officer aboard USS Higgins (DDG 76), and Executive Officer aboard USS Mahan (DDG 72).

Ashore, Cummins served as the lead Combat Systems Inspector for Commander, Naval Surface Forces Pacific, Ballistic Missile Defense Policy Action Officer (N51) for the Chief of Naval Operations, and Political Military Action Officer for Israel, Egypt, Lebanon and Jordan at the Joint Staff (J5) Deputy Directorate for the Middle East.

Cummins earned his Master of Science in Applied Physics from the Naval Postgraduate School.

Commander Samuel D. Higginbotham

Nature

Cmdr. Samuel D. Higginbotham is a native of Wesson, Mississippi, and a 2004 graduate of Norfolk State University where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Sociology.

Higginbotham’s sea duty assignments include Chief Engineering Officer aboard USS Barry (DDG 52), Engineering Project Officer aboard Engineering Assessments Atlantic, and First Lieutenant, Auxiliaries Officer and Damage Control Assistant aboard USS Mahan (DDG 72).

Ashore, Higginbotham served at Destroyer Class Squadron (DDGRON), Director of Engineering Training (N82) at Afloat Training Group Norfolk (ATGN) as the Director of Engineering Training (N82), andTraining and Standards Director (N7) for Afloat Training Group Atlantic (ATGLANT).

Higginbotham has also obtained a Master of Science in Financial Management. Commander Higginbotham’s awards include the Meritorious Service Medal (1), Navy Commendation Medal (6), and the Navy Achievement Medal (4), as well as various unit awards.

Command Master Chief Patrick Roseland

Nature

Command Master Chief Patrick Roseland is a native of Red Lodge, Montana. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in June 1993.

Roseland completed tours of duty at 3rd Intelligence Company in Okinawa, Japan, and 2nd Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company (ANGLICO) in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. He was honorably discharged from the USMC in January 1998, and enlisted in the United States Navy in March of 2000.

Upon graduation from Fire Controlman apprenticeship training he reported for duty aboard USS Winston S. Churchill (DDG 81) as an MK-160 Gun Weapons System Technician. His additional fleet assignments include the USS Chancellorsville (CG 62) and USS Howard (DDG 83) as an AEGIS Weapon System Supervisor and Combat System Maintenance Manager.

Roseland’s shore assignments include Naval Gunfire instructor at Expeditionary Warfare Training Group Pacific, and Senior Enlisted Advisor to the Inspector General at United States Fleet Forces Command.

In 2016 Roseland was selected for the Command Senior Enlisted Leader program and was assigned as the Command Master Chief, Fleet Logistics Support Squadron Forty (VRC 40).

Roseland holds an Associate’s Degree in Applied Electronics from Thomas Edison State College, and is a graduate of the Navy Senior Enlisted Academy Class 205. He has earned his Enlisted Aviation Warfare and Enlisted Surface Warfare, Naval Parachutist, and Master Training Specialist designations.

His decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (2 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (10 awards) and various unit and campaign awards.
