Welcome

Welcome to amphibious command ship USS Mount Whitney (LCC 20) official website.
Menu

Congratulations on your orders to the world’s most capable command and control ship, USS Mount Whitney!

I promise, your time with Team 20 will be dynamic and rewarding.  Mount Whitney is a hybrid crew with navy and Military Sealift Command Civil Service Mariners working side by side.

Our “home” port is Gaeta, Italy.  Gaeta is a picturesque seaside town but it doesn’t come without its challenges due to its distance from Naples, the closest fleet concentration area.  With that said, we are here to help you (and your family) get settled in Italy and aboard the ship.  Constant communication is essential between yourself and your sponsor throughout your transition.  Please keep us informed of any challenges that may arise so we can quickly resolve them.  Do not hesitate to reach out with any issues or concerns.

I have also included my command philosophy on the next page.  We will discuss this in more depth upon you check-in.  I look forward to meeting you and helping define your distance from the network.
