A Huntsville, Alabama native, Commander Dan Stayton is a 2009 graduate of the United States Naval Academy, earning a Bachelor of Science in Economics and a Master of Business Administration from the Naval Post Graduate School.
At sea, Commander Stayton has served as Combat Information Center Officer and Electronic Warfare Officer in USS STEPHEN W. GROVES (FFG 29), Navigator in USS CARNEY (DDG 64), and Weapons Officer and Combat Systems Officer in USS THE SULLIVANS (DDG 68). He is currently serving as Executive Officer in USS RAMAGE (DDG 61) in Mayport, Florida. During his sea tours he has deployed to 5th and 6th Fleet Areas of Responsibility.
Ashore, Commander Stayton served as Seamanship and Navigation Instructor at the United States Naval Academy where he earned his Small Boat Craftmaster Pin and as the Command, Control, Battle Management and Communications (C2BMC) Military Liaison for the Missile Defense Agency.
His decorations include various personal, unit-level, and campaign awards and are a testament to the fine Sailors with whom he has served.
