CDR Ann Patterson is a native of Dayton, Ohio and is a graduate of The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. earning a bachelor’s degree in Media Studies/Communications with an emphasis on Critical Analysis. She accepted her commission from Officer Candidate School in 2008. Additional education
includes master’s degrees from the Naval Postgraduate School in Monterey, California and the Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island in National Security Affairs, as well as a certificate in Legislative Studies from the Government Affairs Institute at Georgetown University. Additionally, she is a graduate of Joint
Professional Military Education (JPME) Phase I and
II.
Afloat, CDR Patterson completed division officer assignments aboard USS
MASON
(DDG 87) as the Strike and Auxiliaries Officer and USS PEARL HARBOR (LSD 52) as Navigator. Her department head assignments were aboard USS OSCAR AUSTIN
(DDG 79) as the Operations Officer and Combat Systems
Officer.
While ashore, CDR Patterson served as Flag Aide to Expeditionary Strike Group THREE and later as a Defense Legislative Fellow for Senator Wicker (R-MS)
and
Requirements Officer at OPNAV N96. CDR Patterson served as an Action Officer in the J33 and supported the National Joint Operations and Intelligence Center (NJOIC) as a Battle/Deputy Battle Captain. She also served as a White House Social Aide.
Personal decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Joint Staff Achievement Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, and various campaign and unit awards.
