CDR Wise was born in Columbus, OH and completed his secondary schooling in State College, PA. He graduated from the Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Arts in History in 2004 and earned his commission through Officer Candidate School in 2009.
A career surface warfare officer, his shipboard assignments include: USS WASP (LHD 1) as Electronics Technician and Navigation Division Officer (2009), LCS CREW 101 as Main Propulsion Assistant (2012), USS SAN DIEGO (LPD 22) as Plans and Tactics Officer (2018), USS ANCHORAGE (LPD 23) as Operations Officer (2019), and USS HURRICANE (PC 3) as Commanding Officer (2021).
Afloat, CDR Wise has deployed to the 4th, 5th, and 7th Fleet areas of responsibility. Ashore, he attended the Naval Postgraduate School (2015), earning a Master of Arts in Regional Security Studies (Western Hemisphere) and served in the Maritime Warfare and Command At Sea Directorates at Surface Warfare Officer School in Newport, Rhode Island during separate tours as an instructor (2016) and Course Coordinator (2023). He is currently assigned to USS CARTER HALL (LSD 50) as the Executive Officer.
