Commander Lynn was born in Reidsville, North Carolina. She enlisted the Navy in August 1999 as a Cryptologic Technician Maintenance. In 2004, she was selected for the Seaman to Admiral-21 program and attended Officer training in Newport, Rhode Island. In December 2007, CDR Lynn completed her undergraduate studies at The Ohio State University, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Security and Intelligence. Following graduation and her commission as an Ensign, she was assigned to USS Lake Erie (CG 70) based out of Pearl Harbor, HI where she served as LAKE ERIE’s Communications Officer and Main Propulsion Officer.
CDR Lynn’s next assignment was as Navigator in USS Denver (LPD 9) based out of Sasebo, Japan from 2010-2012. During her tour of duty CDR Lynn saw the DENVER through multiple joint and combined training exercises over the course of several 7th Fleet patrols.
CDR Lynn’s shore assignments include Action Officer in CTF Shore Battle Space in Bahrain, Operations briefer for Commander, Pacific Fleet in Pearl Harbor, HI, and Force Navigator for Commander, Naval Surface Force Atlantic in Norfolk, Virginia. She also earned her Master of Science in Intelligence Management from Henley-Putnam University during off-duty hours.
For her first department head tour, CDR Lynn returned to Sasebo, Japan where she served as First Lieutenant in USS Germantown (LSD 42). She managed numerous flight deck and well deck evolutions, small boat and crane operations during AIT, CERTEX, PHIBLEX, and VALIANT SHIELD exercises. For her second department head tour, CDR Lynn served as Operations Officer in USS Mesa Verde (LPD 19) for an extended dry dock period in Norfolk, Virginia.
Shortly after screening for Early Command, CDR Lynn served 27 months as Commanding Officer, USS Sirocco (PC 6) forward deployed in Manama, Bahrain. She led SIROCCO through an extended Dry Docked Phased Maintenance Availability, Basic Phase to include 12 warfare area certifications, TYCOM READ E-6 and READ E-7, six Strait of Hormuz transits, and served as Surface Action Group Commander for four Gulf of Oman counter-narcotics operations.
Commander Lynn currently serves as Commanding Officer, USS Carter Hall (LSD 50).
CDR Lynn’s qualifications include Tactical Action Officer, Engineering Officer of the Watch, Surface Warfare Officer, Command Duty Officer, Officer of the Deck, Navigator, Debarkation Control Officer, and EKMS Manager. Her personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, four Navy/Marine Corps Commendation Medals, Joint Service Achievement Medal, five Navy/Marine Corps Achievement Medals, and two Good Conduct Medals.
