Command Senior Chief Castillo is a native of Brooklyn, New York. He graduated from Christ the King High School in 2004 and enlisted in the United States Navy in May 2007.
Following completion of Recruit Training Command in Great Lakes, Illinois, he attended Retail Services Specialist “A” School in Meridian, Mississippi. His first assignment was aboard USS Enterprise (CVN 65) in Norfolk, Virginia.
In 2012, he reported to Navy Recruiting District New York, located in the Bronx, where he served as the Leading Petty Officer at Navy Recruiting Station Huntington. In 2015, he was assigned to USS Kidd (DDG 100) in San Diego, California, where he served as Leading Petty Officer. He was selected to Chief Petty Officer in 2018.
In 2020, he transferred to Navy Recruiting District Jacksonville, serving in Orlando, Florida, as the Divisional Leading Chief Petty Officer. In 2023, he was selected for advancement to Senior Chief Petty Officer and reported to USS Fort Lauderdale (LPD 28), where he served as the Departmental Leading Chief Petty Officer for the Supply Department.
While aboard USS Fort Lauderdale, he was selected for the Command Senior Chief Program. He is slated to report to USS Cleveland (LCS 31) in September 2025.
Command Senior Chief Castillo holds an associate’s degree from Queens College and is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy, Class 261 (Gold Group).
His personal awards include the Navy Commendation Medal (two awards), the Navy Achievement Medal (six awards), the Humanitarian Award, and the Meritorious Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal.
