Cmdr. STUART B. ANDERSON
EXECUTIVE OFFICER, TACTICAL AIR CONTROL SQUADRON 22

Commander Stuart “Meltdown” Anderson is a native of Germantown, TN and a 2010 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Mathematics. He also holds a Master of Arts in Defense and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College.
In March of 2012, he earned his Naval Aviator wings of gold in Pensacola, FL. He reported to the “Airwolves” of Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron FOUR ZERO (HSM-40) in Mayport, FL to complete Fleet Replacement Squadron training. His first operational tour was with the Proud Warriors of Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron SEVEN TWO (HSM-72) stationed in Jacksonville, FL flying the MH-60R Seahawk where he completed multiple deployments onboard the USS HUE CITY (CG 66), USS BULKELEY (DDG 84), and USS OSCAR AUSTIN (DDG 79) across the FIFTH and SIXTH Fleet Areas of Operation (AOR).
Following HSM-72, he returned to the “Airwolves” of HSM-40 as an Instructor Pilot and then subsequently served as Safety Officer, Miniboss, and Airboss onboard USS NEW YORK (LPD 21), completing a deployment to the FIFTH and SIXTH Fleet AORs as part of the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group. Following his time onboard the USS NEW YORK, he completed his Department Head tour with the “Easyriders” of Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron THREE SEVEN (HSM-37) stationed in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii where he served as Operations Officer and completed a deployment as Officer in Charge of Detachment THREE onboard USS PORT ROYAL (CG 73) to the FIFTH and SEVENTH Fleet AORs, marking the ship’s final deployment before its decommissioning. Following his time with the Easyriders, he reported to the U.S. Naval War College in Newport, RI where he earned Master of Arts in Defense and Strategic Studies in March of 2025 from the College of Naval Command and Staff.
In November of 2025, CDR Anderson joined the “Skylords” of TACRON 22 as Executive Officer.
His personal decorations include the Navy Commendation Medal (three awards), the Navy Achievement Medal, and various unit, campaign, and service awards.
