 A 2008 graduate of Marquette University, Commander Ryan Sisler earned a Bachelor of Art degree in History. He pursued a master’s degree in Strategic Studies from the Naval Postgraduate School and also completed Joint Professional Military Education Phase I. 
 
A career Surface Warfare Officer, Commander Sisler’s at sea assignments include: USS NORMANDY (CG 60) as the Main Propulsion and Electrical Division Officer, Maritime Expeditionary Security Squadron 4 (MSRON 4) as a Small Boat Detachment Officer-in-Charge, USS ROSS (DDG 71) and USS SHILOH (CG 67) as the Chief Engineer, and DESTROYER SQUADRON 15/ COMMANDER TASK FORCE 71 (DESRON 15/CTF 71) as the N4/N7 Material, Readiness, and Training Officer.
Ashore, he served as an Instructor in the Engineering Training Directorate (N74) at the Surface Warfare Officer School, and as the Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) & Sea Based Terminal (SBT) Requirements Officer in the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Surface Warfare Division (N96). Most recently, he served as the Defense Fellow for Congressman Nick LaLota (NY01)
CDR Sisler holds various unit decorations and awards and his personal awards include four Naval Commendation Awards, three Naval Achievement Awards, and a Coast Guard Achievement Award.
