Lieutenant Commander (LCDR) Michael Cullen received his commission in 2010 through The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina. He holds a Master of Science in Administration from Central Michigan University and a Master of Military Operational Art and Science from Air University.
LCDR Cullen’s sea assignments include serving as Material Readiness Officer (N-4) with Destroyer Squadron 28 (DESRON-28), Operations Officer aboard USS St. Louis (LCS-19), Plans and Tactics Officer aboard USS The Sullivans (DDG-68), Electrical Division Officer aboard USS George H. W. Bush (CVN-77), and Main Propulsion Officer aboard USS Forrest Sherman (DDG-98).
Ashore, LCDR Cullen served as the Executive Officer of Naval Operational Support Center (NOSC) Detroit.
LCDR Cullen's personal decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (four awards), and various other service and unit awards.
He assumed duties as XO/OIC of Robert E Simanek (ESB-7) BLUE in March of 2025.
