Command Senior Chief Jerami Rathbun was born June 12
th 1987 in Rome New York. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy July 19th 2006 from Verona, New York. After completing basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois, He went on to graduate Basic Engineering Common Core (BECC) in Great Lakes, Illinois December 7th 2006.
His first duty assignment was to PCU USS George H.W Bush (CVN 77), Newport News Va. where he served as a Damage Controlman responsible for damage control maintenance, training and response. He was selected as an Individual Augmentee (IA) completing Army boot camp at Fort Bliss TX. And deployed to Camp Taji Iraq in June 2009 where he was a Detainee Operator, Humvee driver and Combat Life Saver.
His subsequent tours were at USS Whidbey Island (LSD 41), Mid-Atlantic-Regional-Maintenance-Center (MARMC), USS Gunston Hall (LSD 44), USS Mitscher (DDG 57), Afloat Training Group Pacific North West (ATGPNW), and USS Theodore Roosevelt (CVN 72).
He was selected to the ranks of Chief Petty Officer in 2015 and Senior Chief Petty Officer in 2022.
In March 2023, he reported to USS Essex (LHD 2) as the Ships Fire Marshal and Repair LCPO/ Engineering LCPO. He was selected for the Command Senior Chief program in 2025.
He assumed the role and duties as PCU Robert E Simanek (ESB 7) Gold Milcrew Command Senior Chief in May 2025.
He is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 259 “Grey”), Command master Chief/Chief of the Boat Course (Class 25070).
Senior Rathbun is qualified as an Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, Gas Turbine Engineering Officer of the Watch (EOOW), Emergency Medical Technician, Chemical, Biological, Radiological Defense Operations and Training Specialist, Navy Instructor, Senior Enlisted Damage Control Program Management and Training Specialist and Afloat Training Specialist.
His personal awards include the Army Achievement Medal (1), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (3), and various other unit and campaign awards.
