Cmdr. PATRICK LOVE

Commander Patrick Love is a native of Ann Arbor, MI. Upon graduating from high school, he enlisted in the Navy, reported to, and served in, the USS John A. Moore (FFG-19) and COMPHIBRON ONE where he completed his 4 year enlistment and was honorably discharged in 2002.
He earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan in 2007. After graduation he took a position as a high school English teacher and served in this capacity from 2007-2009 in Charlotte, North Carolina. In 2009, he returned to service after being selected for Officer Candidate School in Newport, RI and commissioned in October of 2009.
Upon commissioning, CDR Love reported to USS New Orleans (LPD 18) serving as the Main Propulsion Officer, Auxiliaries Officer, Administration Officer, and Assistant Chief Engineer. Operationally, CDR Love completed deployments to the C4F and C5F AORs.
CDR Love transferred to the University of Michigan NROTC unit in April of 2013 serving as the Freshman Class Advisor, Assistant Professor of Naval Science, and the Surface Warfare Officer teaching Navigation and Naval Operations. During his tour at UM NROTC CDR Love earned a Master’s degree in Education from the University of Michigan.
CDR Love reported to USS STERETT (DDG 104) and served as the Engineering Officer from January 2018 to June of 2019 and completed a follow-on Engineering Officer tour aboard USS PHILIPPINE SEA (CG 58) From September 2019 to July of 2021. During his time aboard STERETT and PHILIPPINE SEA he completed deployments to the C7F, C6F, and C5F AORs. He recently completed an assignment at Surface Warfare Officers School in Newport, RI having served as the Gas Turbine Course Supervisor.
CDR Love’s personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (5), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2), Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (6), and various other service awards and commendations.
