A native of Pleasant Grove, North Carolina, Command Master Chief Gregory L. Harris enlisted in the United States Navy in January 2005. He completed basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Illinois, followed by Hospital Corpsman “A” School at the same location.
His diverse career includes assignments at several key Navy medical and operational facilities, such as Navy Medicine Support Command/NH Jacksonville (Jacksonville, Florida); Naval Ambulatory Care Clinic (New Orleans, Louisiana); Field Medical Training Battalion-East (Camp Lejeune, North Carolina); Navy Health Branch Clinic (Belle Chasse, Louisiana); Ordnance Maintenance Company (-) (Waco, Texas); Detachment One Landing Support Company (San Juan, Puerto Rico); Navy Operation Support Center Greenville (Greenville, South Carolina); HQ MARFORRES/MARFOR SOUTH (New Orleans, Louisiana); and Commander, Navy Reserve Forces Command (Norfolk, Virginia).
In 2023, he was selected for the Command Senior Chief Program and reported as the Senior Enlisted Leader to Fleet Logistic Support Squadron ONE, based at Andrews Air Force Base in Prince George’s County, Maryland.
Command Master Chief Harris is a graduate of the Command Master Chief/Chief of the Boat Capstone Course (Class 23100), the Air Force Senior Enlisted Academy (Class 20-A), and holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
He is qualified as an Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist and Enlisted Fleet Marine Force Specialist. His decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, three Navy Commendation Medals, five Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, two Outstanding Volunteer Service Medals, and various other campaign awards.
