Master Chief Ayanna I. Gregg is a native of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands. A graduate of Ivanna Eudora Kean High School, she enlisted in the U.S. Navy and attended recruit basic training in Great Lakes Illinois, in December 2005. Upon completion of Boot Camp, she reported to Air Traffic Control (AC) “A1” School in Pensacola, Florida.
Her shore assignments include Facility Watch Supervisor at NAS Whiting, Leading Petty Officer in Air Traffic Control at NAS Jacksonville, Radar Branch Chief at Fleet Area Control and Surveillance Facility Jacksonville, and Department Leading Chief Petty Officer at Fleet Area Control and Surveillance Facility Virginia Capes.
Her sea assignments include USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) homeported in Everett, WA and USS WASP forward deployed to Sasebo, Japan where she served as OC division LCPO and completed a homeport shift to Norfolk, VA. She was accepted into the Command Senior Enlisted Leader Program and served aboard USS Hershel “Woody” Williams (ESB 4), Blue Crew homeport Norfolk, Va. She is currently as the Command Master Chief onboard USS Gonzalez (DDG 66) homeport Norfolk, VA.
She is a graduate of 243 Gold from the Senior Enlisted Academy. Senior Chief Gregg is also a graduate of the Command Senior Enlisted Leader course, 24070 April 2024. Additionally, she earned an associate degree in Supervision and Management from Coastline Community College and is pursuing a degree in Women and Gender Studies with a minor in Organizational Leadership from Arizona State University.
Master Chief Petty Officer Gregg’s military decorations include Navy Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (five awards), Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Enlisted Aviation Warfare Insignia, Enlisted Surface Warfare Insignia, and various unit and deployment awards.
