CMDCM Bernard Hypolite is a native of Brooklyn, New York. After graduating from Lafayette High School in June of 2003, he enlisted in the United States Navy, attending Basic Training at Recruit Training Command Great Lakes in August of 2004 and Seaman Ship Apprentice School in Chicago, IL. In December of 2004 he reported to his first command USS Kearsarge (LHD-3) in Norfolk, VA where he was rated as a Boatswain’s Mate (BM). He advanced to BM2 before cross-rating to Master-at-Arms (MA) and graduated Master-At-Arms “A” School in September 2012. In 2016 he was promoted to Chief Petty Officer and advanced to Senior Chief Petty officer in 2020, paving the way for his selection into the Command Senior Enlisted Program in 2024.
His previous assignments include USS Kearsarge (LHD-3), USS Harry S. Truman (CVN-75), Navy Cargo Handling Battalion-One, Norfolk Naval Shipyard Portsmouth Virginia, Naval Base Bahrain, USS New York (LPD-21), Harbor Patrol Unit San Diego, and Maritime Expeditionary Security Group One Detachment Guam.
Currently he is serving as the Command Senior Enlisted Leader for USS Cleveland (LCS 31) in Mayport, FL. His duties are to uphold and enforce the highest standards of professionalism and integrity and promote good order and discipline. Master Chief Hyppolite helps develop and implement policies related to morale, welfare, job satisfaction, discipline training, and family support for the crew both officers and enlisted.
Hyppolite has holds an Associate and Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice, and a Master’s degree in Organizational Leadership from Trident University International. Master Chief Hyppolite’s decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (Six awards), and various campaign and unit awards. He’s a graduate of the US Navy Senior Enlisted Academy class 225 (Khaki), and CMC/COB class #24110.
