A native of Chesapeake, Virginia, Captain Chambley graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Longwood College in 2002. CAPT Chambley received his commission as an Ensign from Officer Candidate School (OCS) in October 2002 and was designated a Naval Aviator on May 24
th, 2004.
After earning his wings, CAPT Chambley reported to Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron 10 (HS-10) in San Diego, CA for initial training in the SH-60F/H. Upon completion of training, he was ordered to Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Three (HS-3) in Jacksonville, FL. While at HS-3, CAPT Chambley supported 5
th Fleet operations including OPERATION IRAQI FREEDOM aboard the USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT (CVN-71). In June 2008, CAPT Chambley reported to Expeditionary Sea Combat Det ONE (ESCU-1) in San Diego, CA and deployed aboard the USNS GYSGT. FRED W. STOCKHAM supporting OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM in the PACOM AOR. Following this deployment, CAPT Chambley reported to the “Warhawks” of Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron TEN (HS-10). As a Warhawk, he was selected as HS-10’s Instructor Pilot of the Year for 2011 and graduated from the University of San Diego with a Master’s degree in Global Leadership/Project Management.
In Jan 2012, CAPT Chambley reported to Norfolk, VA as the Assistant Navigation Officer onboard the USS DWIGHT D. EISENHOWER (CVN-69) and completed back-to-back deployments to the 5
th Fleet AOR. CAPT Chambley then reported to the World Famous “Dusty Dogs” of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron SEVEN (HSC-7) in October 2014, where he served as the Safety and Maintenance Officer. After his Department Head tour supporting OPERATION INHERENT RESOLVE, CAPT Chambley reported to the Naval Personnel Command as the Helicopter Sea Combat Placement Officer from August 2016 to August 2018. He is a graduate of the Joint Forces Staff College in Norfolk, VA and completed a highly successful O5 Command tour with the “Dusty Dogs” of HSC-7, winning the 2021 and 2022 Battle “E” awards. He recently completed a tour as the Executive Assistant for the Navy Financial Management and Comptroller office in Washington D.C. before becoming the Prospective Executive Officer of USS KEARSARGE.
CAPT Chambley has accumulated over 2,800 hours in the F/H/S variations of the Sikorsky H-60. He is authorized to wear various personal, unit and campaign awards, all a testament to the amazing Officers and Sailors with whom he has served.
