Senior Enlisted Leader, USS Cooperstown (LCS 23)

Command Senior Chief Claudia Messinger, a native Clifton Park, New York, began her career as a Master-At-Arms in 2006.
Her duty assignments began with Naval Security Forces Okinawa. She then reported to Navy Recruiting District Denver, CO. There she recruited for enlisted and Special Warfare Community, earning Recruiter of the year for NRD
Denver, Naval Recruiting Region West Recruiter of the Year and National Recognition. She also obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from the University of Florida, and promoted to Petty Officer First Class. Her first sea
command was NSA Bahrain, supporting operations New Dawn and Enduring Freedom.
Her third command was Naval Branch Health Clinic New England located in Newport, RI. There she was stationed within the behavioral health unit as a Substance Abuse Rehabilitation Counselor (SARP) and the Health Service Directorate LPO. In 2016 she was selected and accepted into the Chief Petty Officers Mess, just prior to her transfer to HSM 40 in Mayort, FL. There she was the CMAA of the squadron, handling all Naval security and legal issues in addition to being the ATO.
At her fifth command, Naval Undersea Warfare Center Atlantic, located on Andros Island, she served as the Security Operations Leading Petty Officer in addition to the Senior Enlisted Advisor for the detachment. During this tour she was selected to Senior Chief, and attended the Senior Enlisted Academy.
In 2022 she checked onboard Marine Corps Security Force Battalion, Kings Bay, Georgia. She obtained her Master’s Degree in Epidemiology cum laude, and is currently working on an additional graduate degree in Homeland Security. She spent a year as the Alpha Company Senior Enlisted Advisor, and fleeted up to the Senior Enlisted Advisor of the Battalion to guide and mentor 1,089 Sailors and Marines. At the conclusion of her tour she was selected into the Command Senior Chief Program.
CMDCS Messinger reported to the USS Cooperstown 29MAY25 to begin her first Command tour.
Her personal decorations include Meritorious Service (2), Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (eight awards), Military Outstanding Unit, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Navy Good Conduct Medal (six awards), Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist, Naval Security Force Master Specialist, and various other unit and personal awards.
