Cmdr. Kareem A. Washington

CDR Kareem Washington is a native from the great state of New Jersey. He enlisted in the Navy in 2005 and was commissioned in 2008 through completion of Officer Candidate School. In 2008, he received a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Leadership from Chapman University. He completed Joint Professional Military Education Phase I in 2012 and Joint Professional Military Education Phase 2 in 2023.
At sea, CDR Washington first served on USS Sampson (DDG 102) as the CF division officer and then transferred to the following assignments,
- USS Kidd (DDG 100) as the Damage Control Assistant.
- USS Forrest Sherman (DDG 98) as the Chief Engineer.
- USS Delbert D. Black (DDG 119) as the Combat Systems Officer.
- The Assistant Chief of Staff for Material and Logistics (N4) for Carrier Strike Group TWO embarked on USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN 69).
- Knowledge Management and Organizational Efficiency Specialist for the Joint Force at Joint Planning Support Element.
CDR Washington served ashore as Deputy Director of Officer Development School at Officer Training Command Newport in Newport, Rhode Island. His personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards) the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (three awards) and various other service, unit and personal awards.
CDR Washington began serving as the Executive Officer onboard USS Stout (DDG 55) on May 20, 2025.
