Commander Greg Shinego is a native of Port Saint Lucie, Florida, and commissioned from the United States Naval Academy in 2009. He earned his Master of Arts degree from the Command and General Staff College.
A career Surface Warfare Officer, his sea duty assignments include Weapons Officer and Plans and Tactics Officer in USS LEYTE GULF (CG 55), Navigator in USS CHAFEE (DDG 90), and Ordnance Officer and Anti-Terrorism Officer in USS PORT ROYAL (CG 73). He served with teams that earned the Battle “E“ and deployed in support of various operations within THIRD, FIFTH, SIXTH, and SEVENTH Fleet.
Ashore, Commander Shinego served as Deputy Chairman, as well as Navigation Instructor and Yard Patrol craft Officer in Command at the United States Naval Academy, Seamanship and Navigation Department.
His personal awards include Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (four awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards), and various unit commendations and campaign awards.
