Cmdr. Ezra Hatch is a native of Salt Lake City, Utah. A Surface Warfare Officer, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in February 1998, subsequently graduated from Liberty University, and received his commission via Officer Candidate School in January 2008. He also earned a Master of Business Administration in Manpower Management from Naval Postgraduate School in 2014.
Cmdr. Hatch’s Division Officer tours were aboard USS MILIUS (DDG 69) as the Gunnery and Ordnance Officer, followed by USS CAPE ST. GEORGE (CG 71) as Training Officer. As a Department Head, he served on board USS NITZE (DDG 94) as the Plans and Tactics Officer, followed by Operations Officer/N3 for Destroyer Squadron 28 embarked in USS HARRY S. TRUMAN (CVN 75). In his most recent tour he served as Executive Officer for USS DELBERT. D. BLACK (DDG 119). He has completed six deployments to the FOURTH, FIFTH, and SIXTH Fleet Areas of Responsibility.
Ashore, Cmdr. Hatch attended Naval Post-graduate School and completed the Integrated Air and Missile Defense Warfare Tactics Instructor (IAMD WTI) course after earning his Master’s Degree. He was also stationed at Naval Surface and Mine Warfare Development Command, where he trained ship combat teams during Surface Warfare Advanced Tactical Training (SWATT), followed by serving at Navy Personnel Command (PERS-41) in Millington, Tennessee, where he completed duties as the Amphibious Ship, Military Sealift Command, and Executive Placement Officer.
Personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy & Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy Achievement Medal (eight awards), and various other unit level awards
