A native of Cincinnati, Ohio, Commander Cordrey graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 2008 with a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and commissioned in 2009 through Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island. He received his Master of Military Operation Art and Science and Joint Professional Military Education Phase I at the Air Command and Staff College in Montgomery, Alabama.
Afloat, Commander Cordrey completed his division officer tours aboard USS
SAN JACINTO (CG 56) as the Anti-Submarine Warfare Officer and then aboard
USS ELROD (FFG 55) as the Auxiliaries Officer. Additionally, he volunteered to serve as a Personal Representative to detainee operations in Bagram, Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Department Head tours include Chief Engineer onboard
USS CHUNG-HOON (DDG 93) in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and the N4 to Commander Destroyer Squadron SIX ZERO in Rota, Spain in support of Forward Deployed Naval Forces Europe Ballistic Missile Defense missions.
Ashore, Commander Cordrey served as a Future Operations Surface Planner for Commander Fourth Fleet, Joint Interagency Task Force – South, and USSOUTHCOM. Additionally he served at Engineering Assessments Atlantic servicing MOB-E training and certification for COMNAVSURFLANT. Commander Cordrey is currently the Executive Officer onboard
USS DONALD COOK (DDG 75) in Mayport, Florida.
Commander Cordrey is authorized to wear the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Navy Commendation Medal with two gold stars, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Navy Achievement Medal with two gold stars and various service and unit awards.
