Senior Chief Sher A. Butt is a native of Fort Worth, Texas. He enlisted in the United States Navy November 2003 and reported to Recruit Training Command Great lakes, Illinois.
Following the completion of basic training, he graduated Interior Communications Electrician “A” school before reporting to his first ship, USS Enterprise (CVN-65) homeported in Norfolk, Virginia. His sea duty assignments include USS Harry S. Truman (CVN-75), Patrol Coastal Crew India, USS McFaul (DDG-74) as CE Division LCPO where he was selected, tested and accepted into the Chief’s Mess, and USS George H.W. Bush as CS8 Division LCPO.
His shore assignments were the U.S. Naval War College, War Gaming Department in Newport, Rhode Island, and Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC) code 280 in Norfolk, Virginia where he was advanced to Senior Chief.
Senior Chief Butt assumed his current duties as the Senior Enlisted Leader, and 3M Coordinator.
Along with multiple unit awards, Senior Chief Butt’s personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (8), and Good Conduct Service Medal (5). He is qualified as an Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist, and Enlisted Air Warfare Specialist.
