LCDR Johnson hails from Orlando, Florida and graduated from the University of Central Florida in 2007 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Marketing, Mass Communications, and Education and commissioned in 2010 through Officer Candidate School in Newport, Rhode Island. He graduated from the University of Denver in 2018 with a Master of Science in Environmental Policy Management with a concentration in Environmental Health and Safety.
His at sea assignments include auxiliaries division officer tours onboard USS Harpers Ferry (LSD 49) and USS Germantown (LSD 42); 3M and admin officer onboard USS Denver (LPD 9); Damage Control Assistant aboard USS Cowpens (CG 63); Department Head tours as First Lieutenant onboard USS Rushmore (LSD 47); and as First Lieutenant and Senior Watch Officer onboard USS Essex (LHD 2), where he managed all 900+ underway & in-port watch standers and their qualifications to meet all Force Protection and Damage Control requirements during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ashore, he was the first Navy Overhead Persistent Infrared Mission Director for Joint Functional Component Command for Space, where he coordinated, planned, and executed real-time space operations and responsive space effects in support of Combatant Commands and Intelligence Centers. On this tour he earned his Space Cadre and Information Warfare Officer qualification. As Operations Officer at Afloat Training Group Middle Pacific he lead his team through the completion of 145 training missions in Aviation, Navigation, Seamanship, Search & Rescue, and small boat operations with zero mishaps.
