EXECUTIVE OFFICER, USS Wichita (LCS 13)

Commander Dunn is a native of New York. He enrolled in the Baccalaureate Degree Completion Program in 2008 while attending Manhattanville University, Purchase, NY. Following graduation, earning a Bachelor of Arts in English Education, he attended Officer Candidate School and commissioned in August 2009.
Afloat, his initial sea tour was aboard USS Kearsarge (LHD 3) serving as Deck Second Division Officer, Interior Communications Officer and Fire Control Division Officer, deploying to U.S. 5th Fleet and 6th Fleet in support of Operation Odyssey Dawn. His second Division Officer tour was aboard USS Winston S. Churchill (DDG 81) serving as Damage Control Assistant, deploying to U.S. 5th Fleet and 6th Fleet with the Dwight D. Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group and John C. Stennis Carrier Strike Group. Both Department Head tours were aboard LCS CREW 101/USS Wichita (LCS 13) serving as the Combat Systems Officer and fleeting up to Operations Officer, completing the maiden voyage of PCU Wichita from Marinette, WI to homeport Mayport, FL and deployment workups for her maiden deployment to U.S. 4th Fleet. Subsequently, he reported to Amphibious Squadron SIX, Kearsarge Amphibious Readiness Group, as the Future Operations and Plans Officer (N5), where he completed a deployment to U.S. 6th Fleet, with 22d Marine Expeditionary Unit, participating in 12 major exercises and bilateral training opportunities with NATO Allies and partners.
Ashore, he served as a Naval Science Instructor and Assistant Officer in Charge at the Department of Naval Science, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point, NY. Most recently, he served as the Executive Assistant to the Director, Operations and Plans, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations (OPNAV N3), following assignment as an Action Officer in Global Force Management and Plans Division (N32) and a Battle Watch Captain in the Navy Operations Center of the National Military Command Center. He holds a Master of Arts in Human Resources – Organizational Development from National University and completed JPME I.
Commander Dunn’s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (3 awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (2 awards), and various other service and unit awards.
