Captain Chris Forch, a native of Stratton Nebraska, was commissioned through the University of Nebraska NROTC Program in 2001, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife Biology. He attained a Master of Science in Applied Physics from Naval Postgraduate School, Monterey CA, completing his thesis on rail gun technology. Captain Forch attended the US Naval War College and attained a Master of Arts in National Security and Strategic Studies.
At sea, he served as Damage Control Assistant on USS SHRIKE (MHC 62), Ingleside TX; Fire Control Officer on USS RUSSELL (DDG 59), Pearl Harbor HI; Weapons Officer and Combat Systems Officer on USS TRUXTUN (DDG 103), Norfolk VA; Executive and Commanding Officer in USS MICHAEL MURPHY (DDG 112), Pearl Harbor HI. Captain Forch reported in January 2025 as Deputy Commodore DESRON 2, Norfolk VA.
Ashore, Captain Forch served as a Combat Systems Assessor at Afloat Training Group, Norfolk VA; Planning Officer in the Joint Cyber Center, USSTRATCOM, Bellevue NE; and most recently Director of the Prospective Executive Officer Course at Surface Warfare Schools Command, Newport RI.
Commander Forch’s military decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (two awards), Navy Commendation Medal (three awards), the Navy Achievement Medal (two awards), and various unit and service awards.
