Master Chief Ashley was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. He completed recruit training and Firecontrolman “A” School in Great Lakes in 2001, and Computer “C” School at Aegis Training and Readiness Center in Dahlgren, VA. 
 
His previous Sea assignments include USS LAKE CHAMPLAIN (CG57), San Diego, CA; USS NORMANDY (CG60), Norfolk, VA; USS FOREST SHERMAN (DDG98), Norfolk, VA; andCurrently as the Command Master Chief for USS STOUT (DDG55) in Norfolk, VA.
 
Ashore, CMDCM Ashley served at the Aegis Training Readiness Center, Dahlgren, VA; Commander, Naval Surface Forces Atlantic, Norfolk, VA; and Surface Combat Systems Training Command, Hampton Roads, Virginia Beach, VA.
 
He is a graduate of the Senior Enlisted Academy and Command Master Chief Courses in Newport, RI.
 
His personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (three awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (four awards), and various unit and campaign awards. He has attained his Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist Qualification.
