CDR James L. McQuiniff

CDR James L. McQuiniff is a native of Mason, Ohio. He attended Purdue University where he earned his Bachelors of Science in Economics in 2007. He attended Navy Officer Candidate School and earned his commission in May 2008.
His first tour of duty was aboard USS PREBLE (DDG 88), where he served as the Repair Division Officer and Electrical Division Officer. In October of 2010 he reported to Destroyer Squadron 40 (CDS 40) in Mayport, Florida as the Staff Antisubmarine Warfare Officer and Assistant Plans Officer (N7A).
In September of 2016, CDR McQuiniff reported to USS KIDD (DDG 100) as the first Plans and Tactics Officer and then fleeted up as the Combat Systems Officer in September 2018. Following his Department Head tours, CDR McQuiniff reported to Commander Carrier Strike Group Twelve (CSG 12) as the Flag Secretary and Assistant Chief of Staff for Admin and Personnel.
Over the course of his career, he completed multiple deployments to the 4
th, 5
th, and 7
th Fleet Areas of Responsibility.
Ashore, CDR McQuiniff served as the Flag Aide to Commander Logistics Group Western Pacific (COMLOGWESTPAC) from July 2012 to December 2013. He also attended Naval Post Graduate School where he earned a Master’s in Business Administration with an emphasis in Financial Management and completed JPME Phase 1. He most recently served on the OPNAV staff in OPNAV N81 conducting Warfare Analysis in support of the POM process.
Personal decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (five awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (two awards) and various service, unit, and campaign awards.
